• Fire alarm and detection system
• unsupervised AC/battery system
• no detection system
• lack of audibility.

• Means of Egress
• insufficient exits and/or signs
• rotted out treads
• missing handrails
• inadequate fire separation
• doors in corridors swinging in wrong direction.

• Fire Separation
  • open stairways between floors
  • hollow-core doors between rooms and corridors
  • transoms
  • lack of self closures
  • basement separation
  • doors equipped with “elephant’s feet”.
    
• Flame Spread Rating
  • wood paneling in public corridor.
    
• commercial kitchen exhaust system
• portable fire extinguishers
• emergency lighting
• enclosed exit stairs with no outside lights
• exit lights
• sprinklers and standpipes
• delisted fire protection equipment
• smoke alarms.
